What to Expect When Returning to Black Tusk Athletics
What to Expect When Returning to Black Tusk Athletics
The time has finally come! We are re-opening for group classes! It has been months since you have had the opportunity to work out in our gym and we've made some changed since we saw you last. We put together a list of what to expect of yourself and us when returning to the gym.
1. Your 1 Rep Max Lifts Don't Matter Right Now.
Don't even think about it! Even though you have been working out at home, you are not going to be able to match your old PRs. And that is OK! Don't beat yourself up over it. Embrace the opportunity to lift in a gym and love every minute of it regardless.
2. Focus on Form, Not on Load.
Now is the time to set higher standards for your form. Putting as much effort into perfecting your lighter lifts as your heavy ones is the moment you take one step closer to finding out how strong you can really become. Lift every lift with total focus and control. Create the movement patterns with lighter weights and watch your strength improve dramatically once you start lifting heavy again.
3. Soak It All In! But at a Distance.
If we have learned anything over the past year, it's to not take anything for granted. Let's laugh and have a good time together! But we must stay vigilant with safety protocols while doing so. We won't have designated boxes for each athlete since we now have ample space however, we must maintain a safe distance between athletes. We will have enough equipment for everyone so there will be no need to share. All athletes must be wearing masks at all times while participating in a group class (Coach Kali and I tested it. It's not that bad!).
4. Group Classes are No Longer at the 124 St. Location.
To give you ample space to work out, we have moved our group classes into our new location on 123 Street. We haven't had the chance to renovate anything yet but we made it feel like home and we are excited to have you all there! So remember where to go if you want to avoid being the brunt of some jokes! The new location is 10528 123 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1P1
5. The 124 St. Location Will be Used for Personal Training Still.
If you participate in personal training, this is for you! Personal Training will still take place in our original location.
Let's do this! We look forward to seeing you all on Monday! Make sure you book a time slot in Zen Planner and get ready to have an awesome workout!
See you soon!
